Bike Trip: Talakadu & Shivanasamudra
Bangalore to Talakadu
Route 1: via Kanakapura-150 km.
Route 2: via Ramnagara,Channapatna, Malavalli-130 km.
“Are you coming or not?” asked my friend. I replied “Yes I am”.
“Then get 500bucks and be ready by 8.30”
If u had thought it was 8.30 in the morning then give yourself a pat on your back for guessing it wrongly.
Yes it was 8:30pm on a Friday night (27th April 2012) when my classmate called me for a night-out bike trip.
Without thinking twice I jumped into my bike and drove off to meet my friends. We were 8guys with four bikes who started our journey from MS.Palya at 9:30pm. After packing some snacks we left the place.
Travelling through the beautiful lanes of Mysore road we felt the essence of life. Or at least I felt.
Our plan was to reach Talakadu 150km away from Bangalore.
Every minute was exciting. Every 50kms we changed the riders.
The beauty of night was incredible!
The roads were haunted. Weather was unbearably cold. There were no devils no humans either.
We finally took a break at 1am in the morning at a café coffee day in Maddur 60km from talakadu.
We unfortunately did not find any food as the food counter was closed. There were cops all over the place. They ensured that all the shops were closed.
We then ran into Emirates hotel and took 8 veg biryanis parcel from the back entrance.
Since there were cops patrolling we could not eat it in the shop. We finally had to eat in the footpath. We properly belted the biryanis.
At 2am we all decided to sleep at the benches near the footpath. After a bad sleep we got up at 4am and hit the bikes.
We travelled through the lonely lanes at minimum 90kmph speed. There was bike racing rally going on in there.
Finally we reached talekadu lake at 7am. There was a small warning board.
Three people watched the board and stayed back. But five people hit the lake directly and jumped into water without reading the contents in the board. Our friends outside the lake were screaming but we never cared. They stopped in sometime.
After 2hours of playing in water we came out and asked our friends what they were screaming for.
One guy said “guys did u see the warning board?”
Before seeing the board we were all scratching our bodies due to heavy itch.
When we saw it said “Beware the lake has infectious weed which causes itch”
There were a lot of rashes in our bodies.
We tried many things to get rid of the itch.
One guy rolled into the sand. Another guy sat below tap water. I tried both but it never got cured.
With utmost horrible pain we went to the temple to seek some holy blessings!
Even god dint help!
Ahhh!! It was still itching!! Travel teaches toleration!
With utmost will power we went to our next destination Shivanasamudra!
At 2pm we reached barachukki falls. We walked around 200 steps to reach the mountain base where the falls was situated.
To our amazement in such a hot sun we could find Cold water in the falls.
God! You are such a magician!
The moment we stepped into the falls all our itches just flew away!
The miracle of nature could be seen and felt!
We enjoyed the lake and got back to Bangalore with a wonderful smile in our faces.
We were spending our last days in Engineering life.
We told ourselves “Before the last rites are completed lets learn, live and enjoy! “
A ship is safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are built for. You are safe at your hometown. But that’s not what you are living for.
